BASIC PURPOSES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise and manage COPI Drilling Engineering Staff and Wells Technicians

Support operations during all phases personally and with proper staff alignment

General tasks: Ensure use of best practices, efficient information transfer, networking, QA/QC of procedures, manpower planning, AFE cost estimating, career development, and assisting in year end appraisals

Recuiting, selection and mentoring of Drilling Engineering staff within COPI, providing training, support and feedback

Support the long term planning, FEL tactical design, and strategic support of the Venture Teams

Global drilling performance metrics coordinator for COPI and support all Global Wells Excellence initiatives and standards.

Network with-in the business unit and globally to maintain and improve best practices

Contract and Tender management

Strategic Planning

Support the Chief Drilling Engineer with strategic and tactical support of the Venture teams as needed.

Support the Chief Drilling Engineer with Major Project AFEs

Support the Chief Drilling Engineer with POD updates and revisions as required for all COPI fields

Interaction with

regulatory and governing bodies.

Drilling Planning & Operations Support

Lead highly effective drilling engineering staff.

Effectively lead the well planning process within COPI for all exploration, appraisal and development wells including equipment/materials/services specifications, designs, selection, and procurement.

Promote the Drilling Processes both within the Drilling and Completion group as well as with the Venture Teams

Provides oversight and expert opinion on all engineering and operational aspects of wells and projects such as

North Belut

, Suban, Sumpal, etc.

Review and approve all drilling procedures for technical competency, safety, and environmental awareness as well as best practical drilling practices.

Review and ensure timely completeness of the processes in Well Operations such as:

Ensure Global guidelines and standards are adhered to and any deviations are documented and approved.

Encourage and participate in all drilling and completion peer reviews and assists as well as Hazop and trouble shooting exercises

Provide input and assistance to daily rig activities as required.

Information / Data Management

Lead the Engineering Technicians Team and ensure proper continuous implementation of WellView and Maxwell

Complete Implementation of Wellview in

Indonesia

Ensure Maxwell and Maxbook (drilling process) are fully and effectively utilized throughout the organization.

Establish methodology to ensure daily reports are 100% complete and accurate and proper coding is applied

Ensure all external and corporate reporting is timely and accurate such as Quarterly KPIs, Rushmore, etc.

Incorporate the Rushmore Drilling Benchmarking data into a benefit to the organization

Support Key Performance Indicators (KPI) process, which incorporates all the contractors, employees, rig etc in a rigorous and methodical pursuit of continuous improvement in every area of the drilling operations.

Maintain information to support the inputs from well operations for insurance purposes for COPI & corporate – producing well count, shut-in well count, drilling wells, footage etc. by field.

Need to prepare well replacement.

Keep the COPI definitive well survey database maintained and up to date and ensure the data is QA/QCd.

Personnel Management

Responsible for generating individual career development plans and performance agreements, performing mid-year and final performance assessment with each of their staff

Develop mentoring plans for all reports and managing mentoring assignments with-in the group

Develop the Well Operations Drilling, Completions, & Well Services Technicians workforce and serve as a mentor.

Support the Recruiting of Engineers and Technicians to keep COPI flexible and competitive.

Mentor and develop drilling engineers to increase qualifications and competency levels

General Support Work

Develop and implement standards in Drilling and Completions Department.

EOWR standardized and simplified to utilize Wellview input as much as possible.

Complete all outstanding EOWRs.

Implement common well cost and AFE estimate format for all of COPI – review option to use Global AFE coding.

Insure AFEs are consistent for all submissions to BP Migas (wellbooks, pre-AFEs, actual AFEs)

Assist in the preparation, evaluation and contract awards for support

Qualifications

Required & Preferred Skills/Competencies

This person should have strong understanding of drilling operations and practices and very good knowledge of completion designs, workover, and well servicing practices.

Negotiate and administer contracts with outside suppliers of equipment and services.

Capable of working in a multicultural environment

Self-starter requiring little to no direct guidance.

Able to complete staff work in a timely manner.

Previous experience in project developments.

Familiarity with drilling and completion equipment, including, but not limited to wellheads, tubulars, and completion equipment.

Familiarity with basic and specialized drilling engineering disciplines and requirements.

Lead and finish specialized engineering studies with or without outside assistance.

Comfortable in working with others to accomplish team goals.

Individual that is willing to accept risks and aggressively pursue continuous improvement.

Strong technical skills in both drilling engineering and operations.

Proven/recognized mentoring skills – keen interest in training, developing, and mentoring others. Ability to motivate company personnel.

Demonstrated strong networking and communication skills.

Educational

Required - Minimum Bachelor of Engineering

Desired Experience Level

At least 10 years prior experience in Drilling Supervision and or Engineering.
